In 1950, Hirata Kikai changed its company name to Hirata Taiseido Ltd. At the time, its main sales territory was Kansai region in Japan. Hirata Taiseido's sign, which still remains, advocates "Medical Instruments, Rubber Products for Medical Use, Surgical Dressing Materials, Medical Science Goods, Magnetic Glass Products, and other sets of Supplementary Medical Products" as the items it dealt with.
In 1963, it was reorganized from private limited company to a Business Corporation, changing its name to Hirata Sangyo Inc. A few years later, Hirata Sangyo entered into a distribution agreement with a pioneering manufacturer for catheters, which transformed the company from a local dealer of medical instruments to a Nation-wide Import Company dealing in IVR devices, and became the initiator of state-of-the-art healthcare such as catheter interventions. Later, it opened its way to introduction and provision of brain surgery and cardiovascular related products.
In the 1980's, Hirata Sangyo entered the cardiovascular surgery field, and started dealing in products such as vascular grafts and cardio-surgical instruments. In 1983. it opened up a market for endoscopic instruments, and expanded its work through hands-on workshops and seminars relating to each field, thus making contributions to medical fronts.
To correspond to such contributions, the company expanded its locations throughout Japan, starting with the opening of Tokyo branch in the late 1970's, and in 1987, opened Sakai Distributing Center in Sakai city of Osaka prefecture, serving as the "control tower" for the company's sales structure. At present, the company has expanded to 11 business locations all over Japan.
Hirata Sangyo changed its company name to Medico's Hirata Inc. in 1993. The company has been a medical device import company. However, in order to meet the changing needs of medical environment, the company acquired the "medical devices manufacturing license" in 1988 with the kind support of manufacturers and healthcare professionals, thus allowing the company to sell its own products as well.
In the recent years, Medico's Hirata successfully introduced Aortic stent graft in Japan for the first time in 2006, with the intention to provide enhanced medical treatment with less psychological and physical burden. Medico's Hirata will continue to provide safety and reassurance in medical treatment, and will also continue to devote itself to social contribution.
